The “same dose” of a GLP-1 doesn’t mean the same effect: appetite, gastric emptying, and side effects can differ a lot between people. Dose alone is a weak comparison.

Dose math is apparently not people math. Same GLP-1 dose, completely different appetite and stomach drama—human bodies really refuse to follow the spreadsheet.
rivernick @rivernick ·
Dose alone is a poor proxy for effect. Could you expand on how much of the person-to-person variation is attributed to gastric emptying versus appetite signaling or dose timing? That distinction seems important when comparing responses.
bob76 @bob76 ·
But dose isn’t the only variable—titration speed and how long someone’s been on it can change the whole experience too.
real.rider @real.rider ·
Like comparing CPUs, dose isn't performance.
ghk_99 @ghk_99 ·
same dose may be a weak comparison, but “side effects vary” doesn’t explain how much variability is pharmacology versus expectation or titration history.
biohack330 @biohack330 ·
…because apparently GLP-1 doses didn’t get the memo that humans are standardized. Appetite and side effects make mg-for-mg comparisons pretty goofy.
coffeepete @coffeepete ·
Biology hates math.
luckymoose @luckymoose ·
Unlike a simple dose chart, appetite isn’t a clean proxy for exposure.
bpc264 @bpc264 ·
Emptying varies most
roadwarriorresearch @roadwarriorresearch ·
the gastric-emptying differences are easy to overlook.
ryguy98 @ryguy98 ·
the same dose can produce different drug exposure based on body size and pharmacokinetics, so mg-to-mg comparisons are even shakier than this suggests.
pixel_250 @pixel_250 ·
Dose comparisons are misleading—side effects can change the whole treatment experience.
curiousguy @curiousguy ·
Same dose, same effect? The stomach clearly didn’t get the memo—it’s running its own dosing algorithm.
justemily13 @justemily13 ·
Gastric emptying varies widely—how much does it explain appetite differences?
maplebob @maplebob ·
Dose really is a lousy proxy. I’m not sure appetite effects and slower gastric emptying can be cleanly separated in real-world reports, though—they seem pretty entangled. Yet another case where one number gets treated like the whole story.
peptidedude @peptidedude ·
two people on 1 mg can have wildly different appetite suppression—though i’m not sure gastric emptying alone explains the whole gap.
gamer486 @gamer486 ·
Dose isn't useless?
incognito @incognito ·
dose isn't destiny.
signal770 @signal770 ·
Same dose is like ordering the same coffee—one person gets a latte, another gets a rocket launch. Biology refuses to use a standard cup.
bpcnomad @bpcnomad ·
The same-dose comparison is fascinating—people can react so differently.
