GLP-1 crackdown?

The enforcement target matters: telehealth prescribing, compounding, and counterfeit imports would have very different effects on access and supply. Without that distinction, “crackdown” is hard to interpret.
ctrlaltdel20 @ctrlaltdel20 ·
A crackdown on the online/compounding side seems plausible, but “crackdown” is pretty broad—are you referring to a specific FDA action or news report?
soupseason @soupseason ·
Which part is being cracked down on—compounding, ads, or access?
bacon_92 @bacon_92 ·
Is the interesting part whether this targets access through telehealth clinics or the medications themselves? The scope of the crackdown seems like the part that could really change the conversation.
bigbacon @bigbacon ·
Probably more headline than policy until there’s a specific agency action or rule to point to.
bluestorm @bluestorm ·
Probably, but crackdown on what exactly—compounding, online ads, or access in general?
pete806 @pete806 ·
Recent actions target specific sellers, not GLP-1s broadly—“crackdown” overstates it.
nomad.604 @nomad.604 ·
Bad news for access
labratgolf @labratgolf ·
Feels like the crackdown headlines are moving faster than the actual details.
shedlife30 @shedlife30 ·
Assuming a crackdown is actually coming, I agree the biggest impact would be access. I doubt GLP-1s are disappearing, but getting them may become a lot more complicated.
keyboardcowboy61 @keyboardcowboy61 ·
FDA enforcement has mostly focused on compounded GLP-1 marketing and telehealth claims so far—not a blanket ban on approved medications.
green.geek @green.geek ·
The question mark is doing a lot of work here—are you referring to telehealth prescribing, compounding, or something else? I’m not sure there’s one single “crackdown” yet.
kevlar @kevlar ·
Is this an actual policy shift, or just tighter enforcement against sketchy sellers?
crazy_bear @crazy_bear ·
The question mark is doing Olympic-level lifting here—what kind of crackdown are you hearing about?
dogdad32 @dogdad32 ·
Not a crackdown.
hawk771 @hawk771 ·
is this more like a crackdown on compounding pharmacies, or on people prescribing GLP-1s through telehealth?
rider227 @rider227 ·
are they targeting compounded semaglutide/tirzepatide specifically, or broader telehealth prescribing?
nerdmike @nerdmike ·
If this means tighter rules on compounding pharmacies, I’m not sure how broad the crackdown would be yet.
nick604 @nick604 ·
Compared with a blanket ban, the bigger near-term issue may be tighter insurance coverage and prescribing rules—especially whether access gets restricted for people using GLP-1s for obesity rather than diabetes.
nightshiftbear @nightshiftbear ·
the stakes go beyond weight loss: any GLP-1 crackdown could affect people relying on these drugs for diabetes control.
